How fast can the T40 fly?
The T40 flies at 22 miles per hour.
How large of a hill can the T40 handle?
The T40 can follow slopes of up to 30°.
What’s the lifespan of the drone?
The T40 is built to last. Parts are modular and easy to replace and here are no major wear parts on the drone.
Where can I get service for my T40?
Horizon Fertilizers has partnered with Green Aero Tech, a licensed DJI Agras service center. Their main repair center is located near Carman, MB and additional locations will be added across Canada this year.
What is the operating cost?
Approximately $0.25/ac for generator fuel.
How many batteries do you need?
Three batteries will comfortably keep a T40 flying without downtime.
What size generator do you need to charge the batteries?
We recommend at least a 10,000 watt generator.
Can the T40 apply fertilizer?
The T40 can apply liquid and granular fertilizer. Powdered fertilizer is also possible, but not recommended.
How far from the RTK base station can I fly?
GreenAero operators have flown 3km from the RTK base station with essentially no loss in signal quality.
What is the max spray rate?
3.2 gallons/ac at maximum application speed.
Is the T40 legal to fly?
Yes. To be fully compliant with Transport Canada an Drone Pilots License (Advanced) and Special Flight Operation Certificate (SFOC) are required.
How much can you depreciate the T40?
You can write off 100% of the cost in year one (if within $1.5m expensing limit). Otherwise it is 37.5% in year one, 25% of remainder in year two, and 25% of the remaining remainder in year three, etc.
Are the tanks swappable?
You can easily swap between the spray tank and spreader tank (two hose connections and one wire connection)
Are parts kept in stock?
Green Aero Tech is committed to having a large stock of parts on hand. We currently have enough parts on hand to rebuild every drone we have sold and have in stock.
Are spray drones difficult to operate?
No. DJI is known for their extremely easy to fly drone interface. Spraying operations are conducted by autopilot.
Do I need RTK for my T40?
We highly recommend RTK as it improves the flight accuracy of the drone from 24-36” to 1-2” and enables automated landing.
How many drones can one person operate?
One person can comfortably operate two spray drones at the same time.
What is the PMRA status of drone spraying?
The bad news: As of fall 2023, most chemicals are not on label with PMRA.
- The good news: Trials and testing for PMRA approval began in 2020, and it is usually a three-year process.
- What we know: We have been working directly with Bayer and BASF on their drone spraying trials for PMRA and the results have been very positive. We also have contacts in PMRA that have told us that the main area they are testing is operator safety, not chemical efficacy.
- We hope that a blanket label will be issued by spring of 2024, but we are not certain on when PMRA will conclude their review.
